Welcome first Residents at Studio Wani

Craftsmanship & Inspiration
Our programs focus on wheel-throwing, complemented by porcelain painting classes and excursions to local manufacturers and studios.
A Porcelain Town
Built in 2023, our studio is a modern and comfortable space at the heart of Hasami. Although it's located in town, we’re surrounded by mountains and rice fields - a calm and inspiring place to work and live.
Get to know studio wani
We – Mirjam Watajima and Kenichiro Watajima – started this residency to pass on the skills and experience we’ve built through years of working together as studio wani since 2017.
How to get to us
Hasami does not have its own train station, but it is easily accessible by highway bus.
We can also offer pickup from Arita Station or Kawatana Station.
News and stories from studio wani
We are craftsmen, not writers — but we do our best to keep a regular writing routine and share updates from the studio.
